Mustang: Edison Edition – Introducing The HST International all-electric Mustang and Shelby Cobra
Posted by Admin on May 14, 2008The idea of an all electric Pony car or Shelby Cobra might not sit well with some people, but California-based company, HST International has developed a pair of electric vehicles ready for sale based on the iconic pony cars. Dubbed the Tjaarda EVX Mustang and HST Shelby Cobra EVX, the 2 new cars will be on show at the 34th Annual Toyota GP in Long Beach, California.
Isn’t the throaty grumble of the exhaust part of the allure for these cars though? Where’s the passion when simply pressing the go pedal and the 1,355Nm (1,000ft-lb) of torque at 0 rpm and a peak output of 300hp shoots you from to 60 MPH in only 3.9 seconds for the Stang, and 3.2 seconds for the Cobra? Sure that’s damn fast, and you can get a 100 miles on an 8 hour charge at 120V, or a 3 hour charge at 220V, but still, don’t we want to keep our E-cars separate from our muscle cars? The Tjaarda EVX Mustang starts at $80,000, while the Cobra comes in at $125,000.
