2009 Cadillac CTS-V Lapping The Nurburgring In Record 7:59:32

Posted by Admin on May 19, 2008So how much would you pay for the car of your dreams? Well, the official bar for the highest price anyone has ever paid for any car anywhere has just been raised with a 1961 Ferrari 250 GT short-wheelbase California Spyder got bought at auction for €7,040,000. Converted into American dollars, that’s about $10,976,000.
Goodness that’s a lot of money.
Sure, I’d probably drop some serious coin for the car of my dreams if I actually could, but $11 million? Really? The thing that amazes me is the winning bidder is some British radio DJ, Chris Evans. Have you ever heard his radio jockeying firsthand? I haven’t. The conspiracy clown in all of us might just say this was all just a massive publicity stunt by Ferrari to stir up interest for their new California, but it sure does make you wonder.

In testing at Germany’s famous Nurburgring, Cadillac’s brand new 2009 CTS-V completed a lap of the legendary Nordschleife in 7:59.32. This blistering time appears to be the fastest ever publicly documented for a production sedan.
With an estimated 567 HP, tightened suspension, magnetic ride control, super-spiffy electro-mechanical rear end and a killer six speed in the Cadillac’s arsenal, John Heinricy, an executive with GM Performance Division piloted The CTS-V to it’s sub-eight-minute bragging rights. With pretty much everybody testing anything with wheels, duking it out for Nordschleife glory, we can’t help but wonder how the Germans feel about all this…
