Much like the current Mercedes-Benz S Class, the new Toyota Crown Hybrid, has opted for a LCD panel mounted directly above the steering wheel in the dash, instead of traditional gauges. In the case of the Toyota, their 1280 x 480 pixel screen has a fancy name called “Night View.”
And just like the Mercedes-Benz S Class, Toyota is now offering a night vision system that changes the screen from the standard Speedometer and RPM gauges, to a full screen Night Vision displal. But, Toyota has gone a step further by adding a human recognition system to their night vision system. As with any bleeding edge technology, there are some limits however.

The next BMW 7-Series (code name F01) is going to be given some serious driving technology to compete with the likes of Mercedes Benz and Audi. While the image above doesn’t appear to have anything like the picture quality of Mercedes’ NightVision Assist, BMW’s offering will have some other features that you can brag about to your neighbor.
This 2nd gen night vision system will be able to detect humans in the road because it will use thermal imaging, kind of like Toyota’s Night vision. It will alert the driver of humans up to 100 meters ahead, and we’re told the system won’t be confused by humans on the sidewalk. If a collision is imminent, a flashing warning triangle will appear on the screen and the heads-up display.
