Here’s something to get your blood flowing. A wealthy Arab, everyone’s guessing a Sheik, sent his black and gold Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 a whopping 6,500 miles from an airport in Qatar to Heathrow to have the car’s oil changed. The total cost of the shipment was around $40,000, which doesn’t even include the $7,000 for the oil change itself.
So what’s the problem you might ask? All cars need to get their oil changed. Exotic car owners everywhere are happy to see that a fellow gentleman of means is taking care of his Lamborghini. However, The average Brit, or at least the average Brit interviewed, is horrified by the carbon footprint created from shipping a car, especially a gas guzzler, that far for an oil change.

As you may know, British Automotive show TopGear is back and in full swing for their 11th season already. And to show that they are still “in touch with the needs of the people” they felt the need to give advice on fuel economy and saving money. (That and apparently the BBC is sending them letters and letters and letters). And in true Jeremy Clarkson style, he decided to gather 5 supercars and have a race. But it wouldn’t be an ordinary race, oh no. It had to have that Topgear / Jeremy Clarkson touch.

As if Lamborghini wasn’t already tied together with Batman with their legendary Murcielago. (Murcielago means “Bat” in Italian, and the Murcielago Roadster was debuted on Batman Begins). Now the supercar brand is re-associating itself with Batman’s, or rather Bruce Wayne’s, Murcielago. But this time it’s as a nice and “subtle” daily driver. Well, maybe if you compare it to the Tumbler. This leads me to the question, Who would win in a race: Batman in his Murcielago, or Iron Man in his R8?

The Lamborghini Murcielago isn’t exactly one of those automobiles that needs much improvement, but that sure hasn’t stopped people from trying. This time, Japan-based Premier4509 has launched a limited edition kit for the Murcielago. For those of us who have an extra $28,000 lying around, you can buy what is essentially a carbon fiber bumper, sidepods and adjustable rear spoiler. Wheels and exhaust tips are “coming soon.” As far as carbon fiber body additions go, the touches are nice.
Photos and press release are below.

Premier4509™ Introduces Murcielago Design Package
Paramount, Calif. – (March 24, 2008). Premier4509™ announced that it will be developing a new line of products that have been created for performance luxury cars. The Premier4509 line launches with the performance based aero enhancement package for the Lamborghini Murcielago. The kit is limited to 300 sets worldwide and will feature a numbered serial plate.
The complete package includes a full front bumper with the boxed bumper support system, side pods and a rear bumper with optional adjustable rear spoiler. The total price is an MSRP at $28,000.00

The team responsible for the Premier4509 line has been developing performance products for nearly twenty years, holds two world racing records and owns more than twenty design awards.
The pieces will be manufactured with a combination of composites made of Carbon Fiber and Fiber Reinforced Plastic (FRP) and will be hand crafted by a handpicked team of experienced technicians in Japan.
“The Murcielago is a difficult car to design with,” said Hironoa Yokomaku, president of Premier4509. “The boxed bumper support system makes it tricky to elaborate on designs. This is why many other companies will only offer a front bumper skin or a lip spoiler. Our product quality is good enough to do it the right way and offer the full set up. ”
The Premier4509 collection will even expand later this year to include more products for cars such as Lamborghini, Bentley, Aston Martin, Maserati and more. The Premier4509 line will include limited edition wheels, soft goods and executive class accessories.

A car crash is always an unpleasant sight- no matter the make or model of the car, truck, or SUV. However, we must admit, that we tend to feel a lot worse when the crash involves exotic cars like this Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 that met its demise somewhere in China. It’s worth noting, the flowers were actually not placed by some random mourner, or by the owner of the car, in memory of the once beautiful Lambo. This Murcielago LP 640 actually knocked them off as it fell on them…
Ouch.
