The name alligator is an anglicized form of the Spanish “el lagarto”, meaning “the lizard”, a name which early Spanish explorers and settlers in Florida called the alligator. Currently, there are only two living alligator species: the American Alligator and the Chinese Alligator. Until now.
According to Car magazine, under a Project named Alligator, Aston Martin & Mercedes Benz are planing a wide-ranging tie-up to collaborate on engines, hybrids, transmissions and even entire platforms.
Here are the highlights of the so called Alligator project: Read the rest of this entry »

As you may know, British Automotive show TopGear is back and in full swing for their 11th season already. And to show that they are still “in touch with the needs of the people” they felt the need to give advice on fuel economy and saving money. (That and apparently the BBC is sending them letters and letters and letters). And in true Jeremy Clarkson style, he decided to gather 5 supercars and have a race. But it wouldn’t be an ordinary race, oh no. It had to have that Topgear / Jeremy Clarkson touch.

For those with weak stomachs, look away now. Footage has surfaced of James Bond’s Aston Martin DBS after the Italian police managed to fish it out of Lake Garda. If you recall, the driver of the car lost control while delivering the one of a kind Aston Martin to the set, sending both him and the car plunging into the murky depths.Falling 150 ft before our anti-hero was able to free himself of such beauty and make his way to the surface. That sounds like some serious James-Bond-like action, but unfortunately, it won’t be relegated to the “bloopers” reel as no one was around to record the action. Well, except for this post-mortem shots above.
Oh Aston Martin DBS, you are beautiful, even in death.

In case wrecking one car accidently for the new James Bond Movie “Quantum of Solace,” there has been a second accident, unfortunately, this second crash has left another stuntman seriously injured.
Since there were no other Astom Martin DBS’s left, this time it was an Alfa Romeo. The stunt driver crashed into a wall during a car chase involving a truck and supposedly James Bond’s Aston Martin DBS. The Stunt driver is currently hospitalized in critical condition. A 2nd stunt driver in the same car also suffered minor injuries.
“Filming for the second unit on ‘Quantum of Solace’ will be suspended while the accident is investigated,” a statement said. The movie has been filming in the location for the past two weeks.
Neither director Marc Forster or Daniel Craig were at that particular scene when the accidents occurred.
Guess that Northern Italy Lake Garda location isn’t much luck to Bond. Quantum of Solace is expected to be released in theaters in November of 2008.
