Bob Nardelli, Chrysler’s Chairman and CEO, stated recently that the company has “been approached by third parties who are interested in exploring future possibilities for Viper.” Apparently, instead of just axing the Viper from Dodge’s lineup, Chrysler is “exploring strategic options” for the Viper brand name. (read: they’re trying to figure out how much money they can get for it.) It’s still unclear what any potential buyer would get, as back in February the company has halted Viper development.

Ford managed to be nice and save money by wishing GM a happy 100th birthday not by cake and card, but by spelling it out in lights on the side of their world headquarters in Dearborn, MI. Whether the act was that of penny-pinching or creativity, one thing’s for sure — it was a well done. We managed to get the memo sent around reminding Ford’s world headquarters staff to keep their blinds open below the jump.

Although the 2008 Paris Motor Show doesn’t kick off until October 4th, Mercedes has released details and concept sketches of a new design study they’re calling the Mercedes-Benz ConceptFASCINATION. Built to provide a “high level of practical usability” and a coupé that “appeals to the heart with fast, thrilling lines,” the Mercedes designers decided to make use of the “shooting brake” body style, and combine “sporty and elegant design with stylish practicality.”
This fancy looking two door wagon is a wild way of previewing the lines of the 2010 W212 Mercedes-Benz E-Class and teasing hatch fans everywhere. Powered by the same small diesel mill found in the Mercedes C250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY Prime, the concept features everything you’d come to expect from a Mercedes.

Mercedes has announced their latest C-Class car with its next-generation four-cylinder diesel mill, uniquely titled “BlueEFFICIENCY.” And the specs are certainly impressive: Mercedes boasts 204 HP and 369 lb-ft of torque from the 2.2-liter four, while returning a combined 45 MPG and meeting EU5 emissions standards in the C-Class Prime form. Mercedes states the BlueEFFICIENCY engine will replace four separate diesels at the company, and be offered in the E-Class, the new GLK-Class and in a future E‑Class Coupe (yes, you heard me right – an E-Class Coupé is coming) in addition to the C-Class.
The technological highlights include a maximum ignition pressure of 200 bar; fourth-generation common-rail technology with a rail pressure increased to 2000 bar and a new piezo-injector concept with direct nozzle needle control (for greater flexibility in injection timing); larger, variable oil spray nozzles and a variable water pump; dual-stage supercharging; and a camshaft drive positioned in the rear. But don’t worry, If you don’t know what any of that means, the performance figures speak for themselves.
Equipped on the C 250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY, the new 2.2L diesel engine is capable of propelling the C-Class from 0-62 mph in just 7.0 seconds and a top speed of 155 mph. But what makes the powerplant truly unique is it’s fuel consumption. The diesel helps the C-Class consume an NEDC average of 5.2 liters of fuel per 100 km (or 45 mpg, for Americans). In addition, CO2 emissions weigh in at 138 g/km, enough to easily comply with future EU5 emissions standards.

Sure, We’ve all seen the Camaro SS in unofficial photos, many, many times. But you probably haven’t seen the official photos of a 2010 Camaro SS in front of a dark background. Or maybe you have. Either way, GM has officially posted another set of photos of the Chevrolet Camaro SS, which looks remarkably like the other 2010 Camaros we’ve seen.
